There has been much excitement and interest over the Rational Open Access: RPG Edition (ROA) announcement from IBM. However the key question on many developers' lips is how this announcement impacts those with extensive investments in existing RPG code. This session will explore the practical considerations of ROA development including impact on those applications where the RPG source code is not available.
looksoftware has practical experience in writing a sophisticated ROA handler that includes support for ROA and 5250 applications being integrated seamlessly, and providing a genuine path forward in RPG with no re-write requirement.

About the Speaker
Nick Hampson has worked within the IBM i community for 12 years, having joined a large UK-based RPG software supplier in 1998. Since 2001, Nick has worked with looksoftware to modernize legacy i applications. His key skills are in the user experience, user interface, interaction and design areas.
Nick has a passion for showing people just what their i applications can be. He presents worldwide for looksoftware on modernization and UX, and also handles the presales/product evangelist roll for looksoftware for EMEA and the US.
